Sunnyvale, Calif. May 22, 2007 – MINO Wireless, a pioneer in mobile VoIP technology, today announced that Andy Chen has joined the company as senior vice president of business development. Andy is an early pioneer in VoIP, Mobile devices and apps as well as the convergence of these markets.
"I am very pleased to have Andy Chen to join MINO to lead business development efforts,” said Jing Liu, CEO and Founder of MINO Wireless. “His vast knowledge of the VoIP and Mobile device markets along with his proven track record in developing strategic partnerships and go-to-market execution will be invaluable to MINO’s success."
"Over the decades, I have successfully taken several disruptive technologies from VoIP to Mobile devices, from their embryonic stages to market leadership positions." said Andy Chen, senior vice president, business development of MINO Wireless. "The Telecom industry is undergoing tremendous change, and I believe that MINO has what it takes to navigate through these changes and become the next market leader. I'm very excited to join MINO to achieve that."
Prior to joining MINO, Chen led the WiFi and mobile device ecosystem partnership at Skype where he catapulted Skype beyond the PC platform and onto the mobile device market, which led to Skype’s $2.6B acquisition by eBay in 2005.
Prior to Skype, Andy was a senior executive of Business Development at Motorola where he led strategic partnerships on several key initiatives, including seamless mobility, mobile payment and intelligent network management, among others. From 1997 to 2001, Andy led Cisco's VoIP ecosystem partnership and created the first softswitch solutions based on a joint collaboration with HP Telecom Infrastructure Division's OpenCall platform for a total go-to-market solution. That was the foundation for Cisco to become #1 in VoIP today.
Before Cisco, he worked at HP, Novell and Banyan where he was based in Asia, leading Banyan's Marketing and Sales in the region. He is a graduate of Jiao-Tong University in Taiwan, and earned an MS from Stanford University.
